North State Resources, Inc. (NSR) helps clients transform ideas into actions by identifying practical and effective responses to environmental opportunities and challenges. We are a full-service environmental consulting firm that specializes in the physical, biological, and environmental sciences and regulatory compliance. We value clear communication, and we favor evidence-based decision-making. Since our founding in 1980, our experienced scientists and analysts have consistently responded to the needs of federal, state, and local agencies and private clients. As a result, today we are a leading provider of multi-disciplinary environmental services throughout the western United States.

Whether a project is small and focused or large and complex, NSR provides the depth and diversity of technical expertise that clients need. NSR analysts who specialize in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) identify and implement approaches to compliance that are effective, creative, and pragmatic. In addition to CEQA and NEPA analysts, NSR's staff includes experts in wildlife biology, fisheries, botany, wetland science, restoration ecology, fuels modeling, and heritage resources. These specialists identify study methods and perform field and office investigations that are tailored to specific project requirements. NSR applies geographic information system (GIS), global positioning system (GPS), automated image interpretation, and other up-to-date technologies whenever appropriate to enhance work quality and efficiency. NSR also maintains an in-house staff of technical writers/editors and desktop publishing specialists to ensure that our documents are readable and attractive.

NSR provides a variety of technical services to a diverse client base. NSR undertakes projects of all scales, from multi-year, large-scale species inventories for the U.S. Forest Service to biological characterizations of one-acre parcels for developers. We have successfully completed hundreds of wetland delineations and dozens of Section 404 permit authorizations to fill wetlands. Our staff scientists are well-versed in required survey protocols for a variety of sensitive and special-status species, including vernal pool species, California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander, northern spotted owl, marbled murrelet, valley elderberry longhorn beetle, nesting raptors, and rare and listed plants. Our natural resource specialists have also conducted numerous ESA Section 7 consultations and prepared Section 10 Habitat Conservation Plans. NSR also offers watershed and aquatic habitat planning, evaluation, mitigation, and restoration services. NSR's multi-disciplinary scientific specialists are teamed with in-house GIS, information management, and environmental compliance and permitting specialists to offer high-quality, fully integrated technical products for our clients.
